Cash Advance Apps: Calculate the Cost of Repeat Use

Find out what an app would cost you to keep using

An advertised limit tells you little about first-use access or monthly cost. Check the account and income requirements, then add the charges for the way you would actually use the app.

Bottom Dollar Payday is a product of FSST Financial Services, LLC, not a lender. An independent provider processes the application; terms and availability depend on the provider.

Available amount

What can a new user with my circumstances access?

The advertised maximum applies immediately

Required access

Which employer, deposit or account criteria apply?

Downloading equals eligibility

Standard delivery

Expected timing and any charge

Every route is instant

What could stop this app from working for you?

Choose the unresolved requirement before subscribing or linking a bank account.

I do not have the required deposit history

Read the provider’s current criteria for your specific product. Ask whether it accepts your income source and how it treats a new account. A displayed maximum is not your available amount.

My bank, debit card or income route may not be supported

Check the exact account product and receiving method, not just the bank or app brand. Confirm support before granting access. A linked account and a supported payout destination are separate requirements.

I expect to use the app several times a month

Count the subscription once per billing period and each transfer charge per use. Compare voluntary payments at your chosen amount and at zero. Include the effect of outstanding advances on later access.

Use a comparison sheet instead of a “best app” list

Field What to ask What not to assume
Available amount What can a new user with my circumstances access? The advertised maximum applies immediately
Required access Which employer, deposit or account criteria apply? Downloading equals eligibility
Standard delivery Expected timing and any charge Every route is instant
Paid delivery Fee, card/account support and failure policy A fee guarantees successful delivery
Service subscription Price, renewal and cancellation rules No advance means no subscription charge
Recovery Due date, authorisation and insufficient-funds procedure Deleting the app closes the obligation

Ask which legal entity supplies the product. The federal EWA guidance addresses defined products, not every app using similar words. [S21]

Add the charges for a realistic month

Illustration, not a provider price: a $6 monthly subscription plus four deliveries costing $3 each and four optional $2 payments totals $26. With the optional payments set to zero it totals $18. With no paid deliveries, the subscription alone would still be $6 under those assumptions.

Component Calculation Monthly cost
Subscription One monthly charge $6
Delivery 4 × $3 $12
Optional payments 4 × $2 $8
Total selected spending $6 + $12 + $8 $26

On a narrow screen, scroll inside the table to see every column.

The worksheet shows dollar spending, not an APR or a claim about the legal treatment of any fee. Use an actual fee schedule and count each charge once.

Calculate a month of chosen app charges

Use one month for the subscription, number of advances, delivery charges and optional payments. Enter zero only for a confirmed zero charge.

Your calculation inputs

Use numbers without $ signs or thousands separators; use a dot for decimals. The calculation stays in this page and does not retrieve bank or credit data.

Method, assumptions and limits

Monthly selected charges = subscription + uses × (delivery charge + chosen optional payment). Charges excluding optional payments = subscription + uses × delivery charge. Optional total = uses × chosen optional payment. This assumes the same charges for every use. The result is a dollar comparison, not legal APR; cancellation, trial periods and other charges must be checked separately.

Input limits: money $0–$35,000 (two decimal places); principal must be positive; fee must be below principal. Monthly term: 1–600 whole months. Annual nominal rate: 0–1,000%, up to four decimals. App uses: 0–1,000 whole uses. These are calculator limits, not available loan terms.

Include the next deposit in the comparison

Write down when each advance is recovered and what remains for essentials. Several small advances can converge on one deposit date. An app that costs less in fees can still be a poor fit if its recovery date leaves rent unpaid.

Check whether recovery is from payroll, an account debit or another method. Keep data-sharing permission separate from payment authorisation. The CFPB’s instructions for stopping automatic bank payments explain that stopping a debit does not cancel the underlying debt. [S14]

Examine bank access before granting it

Find out who receives the data, which accounts and transactions are shared, whether access continues, and how to disconnect. Use the provider’s verified connection process; do not send bank passwords or one-time codes to someone claiming to provide support in a message.

If linking fails, ask about an official alternative such as permitted statements. Do not repeatedly connect unrelated accounts to force an eligibility result. A successful connection establishes access, not loan approval or correct income classification.

Choose the next check, not a subscription by default

Compare a genuinely usable free or lower-charge delivery path with the paid option, and compare both with a biller arrangement or employer programme when relevant. Confirm the cancellation steps before enrolling; subscription cancellation and recovery of an outstanding amount are different tasks.

Next action: save the eligibility rules, fee screen, recovery method and cancellation instructions for the specific product you are considering. No app rankings, partner relationships or first-use amounts are asserted on this page. A demand to pay an unrelated person for guaranteed access is not an eligibility process. [S08]

Questions before your next step

Does “no interest” mean the service costs nothing?

Not necessarily. Review subscription, transfer and other charges and distinguish required payments from optional ones.

Can I use a debit card instead of a linked bank account?

Only if that product supports it for the relevant step. A card may be accepted for delivery without replacing income or account verification.

Will paying a tip increase approval?

No such relationship is claimed here. Ask for the provider’s stated policy and do not infer access benefits from an optional-payment screen.
