Solve the service deadline, not just the overdue balance
The full overdue balance may differ from the payment needed under an agreed service arrangement. Confirm the exact amount, deadline and payment method with your utility before financing a bill.
Bottom Dollar Payday is a product of FSST Financial Services, LLC, not a lender. An independent provider processes the application; terms and availability depend on the provider.

Start with your situation
Use the notice and the utility account, not an estimated funding promise.
Ask whether an installment arrangement is available and what payment activates it. Get confirmation of the due date and what happens to the next regular bill.
Contact the utility using the number on your bill. Ask the exact payment or agreement required to prevent disconnection and how quickly that payment must post. Rules and protections vary; a pending assistance application is not proof of a hold. [R21]
Ask for the full reconnection requirements: past-due amount, any deposit or fee, payment confirmation and restoration process. A payment receipt alone does not establish that service is restored.
Keep the overdue total, any agreed immediate payment and the next billing-cycle amount in separate fields. A loan large enough to cover the first number may still leave a reconnection deposit or the next bill unpaid.
| Account figure | Question for the utility | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Overdue balance | Is this the latest amount? | Starting account balance |
| Immediate required payment | Will this amount activate the arrangement? | Actual cash deadline |
| Deposit or reconnection charge | Is it due before restoration? | May increase the immediate expense |
| Next ordinary bill | Is it included or separate? | Determines next-period affordability |

Keep the representative’s written confirmation or account message. Do not assume an arrangement is active simply because a request was submitted.
Illustration: the utility confirms $280 is needed now. You have $60 available and $100 of assistance the utility confirms will count by the deadline. That leaves $120. If a credit offer provides $100 net in time, $20 is still missing.
If assistance remains pending, run a separate scenario with $0 assistance: the gap becomes $220 before credit. Asking both the program and the utility whether a pledge counts prevents a timing promise from becoming an invented payment.
Local worksheet
Enter the utility-confirmed amount due now, including any required deposit. Count assistance only if it will be accepted in time.
Enter 0 where applicable. Use a decimal point and no commas. No data is sent.
Gap = max(0, expense − timely cash − timely confirmed help). Still unfunded also subtracts actual net proceeds; excess is shown separately. These four entries must not overlap. Pending aid, a credit limit, or a later reimbursement is not timely cash. Inputs stay in this browser; this is not an eligibility test.
LIHEAP can assist eligible households with energy-related expenses or crises, but local rules and funding determine access. Weatherization is a different kind of support; do not treat a future home improvement as money for today’s notice. [R21]
| Route | Confirm before relying on it | Immediate limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Utility arrangement | Required deposit, dates, written activation | Later bills may remain separate |
| Energy assistance | Eligibility, decision and accepted pledge | An application is not paid assistance |
| Community support | Amount and date actually available | A referral does not confirm funding |
| Loan or advance | Net cash, arrival and complete repayment | New debt adds a later obligation |

A lender’s qualification requirements and the utility’s service rules are separate checks. Passing one does not satisfy the other. [R01]
Ask which utility payment methods count on the deadline: an online debit payment, a bank transfer, a payment-center receipt or another accepted channel. Then check the financing route backward from that requirement.
A loan decision, release of funds, arrival in your account and posting to the utility are four different events. If the deadline cannot be met, contact the utility immediately about alternatives; do not send a duplicate payment just because the first is still pending.
Build the next-period budget using income you can verify, the next utility charge, housing, food and existing obligations. Add both the installment arrangement and the proposed loan payment if both exist. They are not interchangeable debts.
A short-term loan commonly concentrates repayment near the next income date, while terms vary by agreement and state. Inspect the actual schedule rather than assuming the utility balance will stay low until repayment. [R07]
After payment, retain its reference and confirm the arrangement, hold or restoration with the utility. Separately retain the lender’s repayment schedule. Do not stop following the service notice because a credit application says “approved.”
For help routes, use the official energy-assistance source below and ask your utility about applicable customer protections. This page does not determine local disconnection rights or promise a service hold. [R21]
No. Obtain the actual written arrangement or reconnection requirement. It may be smaller or larger than one number on an older notice.
Do not assume that. Ask the program and utility whether a specific approved pledge or rule applies to your account. [R21]
Not in the timely-funds worksheet. Model it separately for later repayment, and do not count it twice.
Continue to the online application. Review the terms of any offer before you accept.
